Every summer, generations of creative people have gathered to demonstrate, exhibit, share and market their unique artistic talents and original works in Sioux Narrows. The Sioux Narrows Arts Council is planning forward to July 30th and 31st, the 2022 Arts Festival weekend. A popular and longstanding tradition on the shores of Lake of the Woods, each year this festival attracts thousands of visitors and offers the familiar alongside trending and exclusive art experiences.

We will be ready to welcome artists, musicians, volunteers and visitors to our summer celebrations. Working together with the Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls and the Northwestern Health Unit, the Sioux Narrows Arts Council will continue to strive to deliver safe family-oriented arts events for all to enjoy.

Last summer we celebrated the history of the Sioux Narrows Arts Council, its artists and its community volunteers. Recognition of these accomplishments will continue to be brought to light this year as Sioux Narrows proudly hosts the longest running arts festival of its kind in Northwestern Ontario. Thank you for your continued support through the challenges the pandemic has presented. We look forward to seeing you beyond the bridge in 2022.

Our 2020 August Arts Festival weekend,  a longstanding tradition on the shores of Lake of the Woods, was paused as we worked together to protect the health and wellbeing of our community and of our entire planet. Our safe alternative, Artists in the Park, took place on September 12th. The  day was an uplifting and
welcome opportunity for artists and art lovers to enjoy art, conversation, exercise and the natural beauty of the Sioux Narrows Provincial Park. In 2021 we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Sioux Narrows Arts Council. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and at siouxnarrowsartsfestival.com to learn about upcoming special events.

COVID-19 UPDATE          2020  ARTS FESTIVAL CANCELLED

In response to  recent government and health regulations with regards to large crowd gatherings and the COVID-19 phases of reopening in Ontario, the 2020 Sioux Narrows Arts Festival has cancelled its events on August 1 and 2. Protecting your health and safety is our primary concern.

The Sioux Narrows Arts Council has registered an excellent lineup of artists who are prepared to show and sell a wide variety of art.
You will be able to view many of the artists and their products from our Support Our Artist Page.  Please follow our updates for other events that may be adapted for your safe enjoyment on our social media.

SIOUX NARROWS ARTS COUNCIL CO-CHAIRS

Dear Patrons,

After much deliberation and discussion, the Sioux Narrows Arts Council has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Sioux Narrows Arts Festival.  Considering the federal and provincial COVID-19 large gathering restrictions, our festival would not be able to meet the guidelines for social distancing for the artists or the general public. Protecting your health and safety is our primary concern.

We would like to thank our artists, volunteers and community partners for their support as we work together to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The Sioux Narrows Arts Festival is a highlight of the summer that many look forward to each year, and we will miss seeing each of you! Stay safe and healthy!

Kind Regards,

Maury Swenson & Kathy Valentini

The 2020 Summer Lakearts Exhibit entitled Postcards from Sioux Narrows continues to accept entries.  Now you can drop off your postcards at the Sioux Narrows Motel until the Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre is opened up. Also, the exhibit will be visible online so that the artists who are unable to join us this summer will still be able to enjoy our show. Request an application and send us an original card. We want to hear from all of the people who are missing the lake life here in Sioux Narrows.
